Academic Rigor
Academic rigor is the focus for Battle Mountain students, staff and administration. Students have the opportunity to enroll in Dual Enrollment (DE) courses or Advanced Placement (AP) courses and earn college credit at the same time they earn high school credit. Grades earned in these courses are weighted, so a “B” in an AP class is equivalent to an “A” on the student’s transcript. Last year Battle Mountain students earned nearly 1,500 college credits, saving their parents over $270,000 in college tuition. Courses include:
| AP Computer Science | AP Calculus AB |
| AP World History | AP/DE US History |
| AP Biology | AP Studio Art |
| AP English Language | DE Shakespeare |
| AP English Literature | DE College Algebra |
| AP Spanish | DE College Trig |
| AP Environmental Science | DE Government |
| DE Psychology | DE English Comp |
For those wanting an even further jump start, students don’t have to wait until junior or senior year to take advanced classes. Battle Mountain offers Honors English, accelerated math and computer placement, and compacted science courses, which combine 2 trimesters of content into one, for qualified students.
